I landed well before the estimated arrival time . . . always a bonus when flying. After connecting with my cohort mate, Lisa, we joined others on the expedition at the "muster station." After driving 40 minutes, we were dropped off at the Grandi Hotel for breakfast and a refreshing nap in a day room. This was like winning the lottery as we were both desperate for sleep and had no idea this was a part of the agenda.

Let the expedition begin!
Following lunch, we had a Reykjavik tour, including a visit to the National Museum of Iceland and a brief stop at the Hallgrímskirkja Church.

After the city tour, the time finally came to board the ship! Our living quarters are located on the B deck with the staff. We share a bathroom, and each has our bedroom with a porthole just above the waterline. Our quarters are comfortable with ample space and offer a sneak peek of the energy behind the scenes.

Our home for the next 9 days!

We call ourselves the Grosvenor Girls!

My room!
As Grosvenor Teacher Fellows (GTF), we are uniquely positioned aboard the ship. We are travelers but also Expedition Staff, meaning we live in both worlds. What does this mean? We are mostly travelers but have minor duties on the ship, such as speaking about GTF. Every member of the Expedition Staff has a biography posted for the travelers viewing, and ours were included!

Look what we found on our way back to our room from the safety training.
